Mandy Rowden-Founder/Guitar/Bass/Songwriting

Girl Guitar is the brainchild of singer/songwriter/teacher Mandy Rowden. A lifelong musician and multi-instrumentalist, Mandy has played all around Austin with various bands on guitar, bass, mandolin, keys, drums, and violin. In March of 2007, after having taught privately for 10 years, she combined her love of teaching, playing, wine, and good old-fashioned fun to form Girl Guitar!
Mandy currently plays guitar and sings in Austin's all-chick 80's cover band Cover Girl, plays drums for Prom Date, and fronts a folk duo with guitar player and songwriter Barry Sell. Look out for Mandy and Barry's new album "Live from Opa!" coming out in August, 2010.

Kristen Hall-Guitar
Kristen started out as a band geek in middle school in a small East
Texas town. She realized her love of guitar 10 years ago, and started
taking lessons from Trigg Ward. She along with fellow student, Ben
Kweller, recently thanked Mr. Ward for his influence when he received
the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Kenneth Threadgill
Association. She moved to Austin 7 years ago and reconnected with longtime friend,
Mandy Rowden. Kristen became one of Girl Guitar’s first members and jumped right
into Austin’s live music scene. She is now the bassist for Cover Girl and the guitarist for Guilty Pleasures.
She has recently become Girl Guitar’s newest teacher where she teaches
beginner guitar classes.
